This is a paper print of a painting from 2011. When reading Archie comics, and later watching the cartoons, it always struck me how practical joker and perpetual nudge Reggie Mantle’s behavior was not just manipulative and selfish but damn near sociopathic. So, of course I thought to turn it up a notch and re-cast him and his pal, Riverdale’s perpetual do-gooder Archie Andrews as gangsta pimps and the town’s go-to guys for vice. With Jughead getting stoned in the corner and his favorite hos Betty and Veronica stripped and ready for a Sapphic lap dance you’d better believe him when he says, “EVERYTHING’S ARCHIE, BEEYOTCH!”
